GEG Celebrates Chinese New Year with the Community and Team Members Through Diverse Activities

January 28, 2025 – With the Year of the Snake approaching, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has extended the festive joys and well wishes to various community groups and team members through diverse activities. These included inviting nearly 200 members from the Caritas Macau, the Macau Deaf Association, the Macau Special Olympics, and the Areia Preta Community Service Centre of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (“UGAMM”) to participate in the “Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Spring Market” (“Spring Market”) co-organized with the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macao. Additionally, GEG arranged about 100 volunteers, including GEG Volunteers and students from the “Youth Science and Technology Village” program, to engage in the “Technological Support for Senior Living Alone” event under the “GEG Community Caring Program” organized by the “Peng On Tung” Tele-assistance Service and title-sponsored by GEG for the 9th consecutive year, in hopes of spreading warmth, care, and respect to the elderly community. Furthermore, GEG also hosted a Responsible Gaming Roadshow and orchestrated various festive celebrations in the back-of-house areas of its properties to celebrate the Chinese New Year with its team members.

Coinciding with the Spring Market at the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, an area revitalized through GEG’s partnership with the Macau SAR Government, elderly members from the Caritas Macau were invited to visit and partake in festive celebrations in the shipyards area. Mr. Pun Chi Meng, Executive Director of the Caritas Macau, and Mr. Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG, graced the event with their presence. Accompanied by representatives from GEG’s Public Relations Department, GEG Volunteers and their family members, the elderly explored the area’s high-tech amenities, such as augmented reality animations, interactive 3D display cabinets, and large LED wall, to learn about the shipyard’s history and delve into Macau’s rich shipbuilding heritage. The elderly also explored the Spring Market, visited the cultural and creative booths, tested the interactive booth games, enjoyed the musical performances, and took photos in front of the New Year-themed installations. In the spirit of the New Year, GEG representatives, along with the God of Fortune and Wavey the Peacock of Galaxy Kidz, presented the elderly with Galaxy Macau™ turnip cakes as a gesture of New Year blessings. On the opening day of the Spring Market, GEG also invited members from the Macau Deaf Association, the Macau Special Olympics, and Areia Preta Community Service Centre of UGAMM to join the festive celebrations.

Prior to these recent events, GEG Volunteers and students from the “Youth Science and Technology Village” program took part in the “Technological Support for Senior Living Alone” event, where they received training on the practical application and design of technological tools, effective communication with seniors, and the proper use of “Peng On Tung” tele-assistance devices. Participants also visited and interacted with 60 local elderly residents, gaining insights into their daily lives and needs in hopes of bringing love and care to them ahead of the new year. Through encouraging its volunteers to involve their children and engaging local youth in community activities, GEG hopes to promote the spirit of community help and pass down the spirit of benevolence.

In addition, a series of festive celebrations were also hosted in the back-of-house areas of GEG’s properties. These included a variety of Chinese New Year-themed activities arranged by GEG’s Human Resources and Administration Department such as spring couplets writing workshops, game booths and special Chinese New Year dishes at team member canteens for team members to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere. In collaboration with the Youth Volunteer Association of Macao (“AJVM”), GEG also hosted the “GEG Presents: ‘Fortune Turns the Wheel, Rational Play’ Responsible Gaming CNY Roadshow”, which provided interactive games and expert explanations aimed at deepening both local and non-local team members’ understanding of responsible gaming and encouraging them and their family members to maintain a rational attitude towards gaming during the festive season. The event garnered an enthusiastic participation of over 3,200 team members.

GEG also actively supports the New Year celebrations and related activities organized by the Macau SAR Government. As a leading partner of the “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Snake” (“the Parade”) hosted by the Macao Government Tourism Office (“MGTO”), GEG will participate in the Parade on the third and eleventh day of the Chinese New Year to showcase Macau’s unique “tourism + festival” charm by presenting a parade float and exciting performances inspired by the “Gold Snake” theme. Additionally, GEG will also operate the Spring Market at the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards from January 31 to February 2, bringing together over 15 local SMEs to run cultural and creative booths, alongside a series of Chinese New Year themed activities and workshops. During the Spring Market period, Gold of Fortune parades will also be arranged and New Year gift bags will also be distributed to extend GEG’s New Year blessings to residents and tourists.
