GEG Participates in 2025 MIECF as Green Partner; Promoting Sustainability and Green Living in Macau

March 29, 2025 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) proactively supports the country’s “dual carbon” goals and Macau’s environmental policies through promoting eco-friendly concepts and initiatives to foster green and sustainable development in Macau. Today, the three-day “2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (“2025 MIECF”) has successfully concluded. As a Green Partner of the 2025 MIECF, GEG presented the “Upcycled Waste Pavilion” exhibition booth, and showcased a series of upcycled eco-friendly products created for related initiatives and its hotel brands. Additionally, GEG hosted sessions of “Recycled Plastic Art Workshop” today to promote the concept of green living to the public and participated in thematic business matching sessions to explore partnerships with quality green collaborators.

On the first day of 2025 MIECF, Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, represented GEG at the opening ceremony and toured GEG’s exhibition booth. As the first integrated tourism and leisure enterprise to implement the “Bamboo as a Substitute for Plastic” (“BASP”) initiative, over 90% of GEG’s hotels have adopted BASP by replacing plastic with bamboo amenities in the hotel rooms. GEG also embraced the concept of “replacing plastic with bamboo, turning waste into treasure” to its exhibition booth design and advanced it with 3D printing technology, which received the “Green Booth Award” from the Macau Fair & Trade Association and Macao Low Carbon Development Association for the third consecutive year. Additionally, GEG also showcased a range of upcycled items, including the eco-friendly windbreakers made from recycled plastic bottles in collaboration with a local SME for the “2024 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon”, its bamboo-packaged hotel amenities reflecting GEG's support for the BASP initiatives, and rPET recycled souvenirs from GEG's previous “Eggspression – An Immersive Art Experience” exhibition.

Coinciding with today’s “Green Public Day” at MIECF, GEG specially invited the local environmental organization Green Future to host sessions of “Recycled Plastic Art Workshop” to further promote the importance of environmental protection to the public. Accompanied by Wavey, the Peacock of Galaxy Kidz, participants learned about the process of reshaping plastic into rPET for reuse through professional guidance, and experienced “turning waste into treasure” by creating eco-friendly accessories using recycled plastic.

Over the years, GEG has stayed committed to environmental protection and sustainable development, and has actively supported the development of a greener Macau. Recently, GEG participated in the global energy-saving campaign “Earth Hour”, coordinated by the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, by switching off all non-essential building exterior lights on its properties for one hour to support energy conservation and emission reduction. Furthermore, GEG's environmental efforts have been widely recognized, holding the most EarthCheck certifications and 2025 Forbes Responsible Hospitality VERIFIED™ Badges among Macau’s integrated resort operators. In addition, GEG has multiple hotel brands that received various accolades under the “Macau Green Hotel Awards”. Moving forward, GEG will continue to uphold its philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community” and remain dedicated to promoting a wide range of green corporate social responsibilities initiatives.
