GEG Invites Local Students to Participate in the “World Cup Second Classroom” Tour; Expanding Local Youth’s Horizons Through International Sports Event

April 16, 2025  Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has been actively supporting the Macau SAR Government's initiatives in sports development. By proactively supporting, organizing, and participating in various large-scale international sports events through multi-pronged approaches, GEG aims to foster Macau’s development as a “City of Sports”, while actively leveraging the related synergies to create exchange and learning platforms for Macau youth, thereby broadening their horizons. Coinciding with the “ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2025 Presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group” (“ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao”) sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (“ITTF”), organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, GEG and the World Table Tennis Management Group Limited, co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, and held at the Galaxy Arena for seven consecutive days from April 14, today, with the support of the event organizers, GEG invited year-four students from University of Macau’s Department of Communication to Galaxy Arena to participate in the “World Cup Second Classroom” tour organized by the Organizing Committee of the ITTF Men's and Women's Singles World Cup Macao 2025 (“Organizing Committee”), with aims to deepen students’ understanding of the professional media communication workflows involved in large-scale sport events.

This afternoon, 20 year-four students from the University of Macau’s Department of Communication, accompanied by their Associate Professor Ms. Agnes Lam; Ms. Zhou Dao, ITTF Head of Media (Asia); Ms. Annie Loi, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility of Public Relations of GEG; and Ms. Kam Leong, Assistant Vice President of Media Relations of Public Relations of GEG, began their tour at the competition venue. Guided by a representative from the Organizing Committee, the group explored the media seats and media photography area, gaining first-hand insight in the frontline working environment of professional media. They also enjoyed a spectacular light show of the event, experiencing the charm of sports competition from a different perspective. Additionally, the students visited the backstage areas, including the mixed zone, media center and press conference room, where they engaged with Ms. Wang Peng, CMG Table Tennis TV Producer; and Mr. Allan Chong, a senior media professional from Macao Daily News; and learned about media workflows and practical operations for large-scale international sport events, which expanded their related knowledge. Furthermore, the students were given the opportunity to meet and take photos with the Chinese table tennis player Ms. Zhu Sibing, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

A participating student from the University of Macau’s Department of Communication, Adrie Zhu, said, “We are truly grateful to GEG for this invaluable opportunity, which allowed us to step outside the classroom and immerse ourselves in the media communication of a large-scale international sports event. The chance to interact closely with national table tennis player also further reveal the captivating essence of the sport. This rare learning opportunity is also an inspiration for our future career development.”

Upholding its philosophy of “What is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, GEG has proactively hosted various extended activities during large-scale sports events to foster related sports exchange in the community. During this tournament, GEG also arranged students from the University of Macau’s Lui Che Woo College and Department of Communication to watch the matches on-site with members of the GEG Volunteer Team and experience the charm of table tennis. In addition, GEG organized the group of students to visit the licensed merchandise stores at the competition venue to experience the vibrant sports atmosphere. Moving forward, GEG will continue to promote the integrated development of Macau’s sports and talent cultivation, contributing to nurturing future leaders for society.
